Defund the Police

We don’t need more cops on the streets
Defund the police

I’m the daughter of patience
I’m the son of your dreams
Police don’t need a statement
They look at me and squeeze
With a license to kill
Cause I’m 12 with a toy
Or amidst a mental breakdown
Depressed and devoid

Anxious, suicidal
Living with abuse
Of family members calling cops
Might as well give me the noose
Label me erratic
Suspicious of your truce
You pushed me to the edge
I’m flying off the roof

And this time, last time, every time
You crossed the line
How many times, until there’s no next time
Will you stand in line

We’ve let you get too far - we had enough
You’ve proven who you are - we can’t trust
The screams on every screen - can you hear em
No justice or peace
It’s time for second thoughts - make a change
Your second chances lost - won’t get away
We need a better team - your time’s up
Defund the police

You come through
Guns blazing, on edge
You paranoid, scared?
Might wind up dead?
You signed up for this
Now we in the line of fire
So your responsiveness
Needs to be calmer, tighter

We losing too many babies
To your lack of judgment
The cops the military now
Civilians out here cuffin
Somehow it’s normalized
To kill based on assumption
Well I assume
You’re less fit for duty than prison lunches

And this time, last time, every time
You lost your shit and the judicial system had your back
This is the time, you’ll never get a next time
You lost your privilege to power trip cause you have a badge

We’ve let you get too far - we had enough
You’ve proven who you are - we can’t trust
The screams on every screen - can you hear em
No justice or peace
It’s time for second thoughts - make a change
Your second chances lost - won’t get away
We need a better team - your time’s up
Defund the police

We don’t need more cops on the streets
We are sick of this heat
Defund the police

We don’t need more cops on the streets
No justice no peace
Defund the police

We don’t need more cops on the streets
Hands up don’t shoot
Defund the police

We don’t need more cops on the streets
Leave us alone
Defund the police
