Andrew Parton is an Ottawa based singer-songwriter that aims to use his music to tell his stories and the stories of his listeners.
Andrew is not only a singer-songwriter, but is know for getting his feet wet in other genres. In 2016, Andrew shared the stage with upcoming artists such as BC Country Music Singer Lisa Nicole, Hamilton's Mark McDonald among others. Andrew also performed with artist Jacelyn Holmes at the 2016 TD Toronto Jazz Festival; playing jazz/blues guitar in her band.
Currently, Andrew is working on his first two EP's to be released later in 2017 as well as developing a catalogue of new, original material.
Without the benefit of a formal education in music, other than in high school, his growth as a musician was entirely his own. His unique style developed with little external guidance throughout his studies at Carleton University. When your choices are between boring textbooks on law and the sweet allure of an acoustic guitar resonating on an open stage it can be a little tough to focus. Despite this, Andrew finished his studies in 2013 with a Bachelors Legal Studies degree which he snuck in between his real reasons for continuing university (you know; fundraising at coffee houses and local bar open mic nights). From 2009 to 2013 it was hard to be a student at Carleton without hearing him at one (or many) student events. Relay For Life and the Terry Fox Run are two regular staples of his musical diet.
However - life goes on and we can't stay at university forever. With graduation behind him Andrew has found steady work on the Ottawa / Toronto circuit making new connections every day through Songwriter conventions, local Arts and Culture events fit into his busy schedule of gigs. True to his roots he still likes to swing through the occasional coffee house event and play a freebie show - but only if you're raising money for a good cause.
