Biography:
Barbara Joy is releasing her first full length CD "A King Has Come" this fall. It is her Christmas/Winter Collection. Barbara has penned all the songs on the album.

" An inspiration for writers". Its always a honor for a songwriter to share their tunes with others. We all admit, we would never take that forgranted. We all appreciate an attentive audience! I am inspired to write songs about nature. That was one of the first things I told my Executive Producer Marshall Zacharias (my cousin) when we took up discussing songwriting. I love painting word pictures, and if you pick up my CD you will hear the lovely scenes being painted describing our beautiful white winters in Winnipeg. As for my CD "A KIng Has Come" my Christmas/Winter Collection - its easy to be inspired to write about the miracle birth of Baby Jesus at Christmas time. That comes very naturally for me. I enjoy writing "story" songs. You will hear that on my song "Playing for Gold".
I have been in music all my life, piano and voice classical training, choirs, ensembles, bands, conducting, and now writing and recording my own songs.
After many years of classical training I decided I had had enough with just singing covers. That is all I ever did for lessons and for those exams, I do not want to say that that is not the right thing to do for training, but after close to 20 years of it, I decided I needed to sing and play my own writings and so I began to write, record and perform my own music. My husband Mike said to me "There are not many people who like to sit at the piano all afternoon and plunk out notes ( or take it to the guitar and strum out melodies) and totally enjoy themselves". Well guess what I love it. Its so relaxing and fun to be creative! That is where it is at! After many years of having to sing and play "other people's" creative work, it is finally time for me to sing, play, write and perform my own work.
I want to encourage writers, musicians, singers, to write, write, and continue writing. We are in a time that music creators are really being appreciated and acknowledged, and its time to just go for it. There's lots that I love to write about, our lovely seasons, scenery, my faith in Jesus Christ, and stories of experiences good and tough times that we need to share with others, do not hold back. I know you can do it and we will all enjoy!
BE INSPIRED -its definitely our turn!
I am releasing my first full length CD "A King Has Come" Sunday October 30, 2011 at the La Salle Community Fellowship Church, La Salle, Manitoba
Thank You
Barbara Joy

"A times, Joy's soft vocals inflection seems to intentionally mimic that of a singing child." -see facebook for complete article
December 2011 - Winnipeg Free Press - Rob Williams' Review of "A King Has Come" Album.
The offering: Manitoba singer-songwriter Barbara Joy releases her debut album, an eight-song Christmas/winter collection of original piano-based tunes that probably won't be covered by choirs but makes for a pleasant diversion from the overplayed standards and is as joyful as her name.
New jingles: All of the songs were written by Joy , who touches on the birth of Jesus on the title track; sings of the simple pleasures of the season on Celebrating Christmas, puts herself in the place of a young hockey player dreaming of a medal on Playing for Gold; and delves into winter imagery on Snowflakes and Mr. Snowman. Biblical references are provided for six of the songs. Ho, Ho , Ho - 3 stars.
Thank you Adam Kroeker and Rob Williams for the fabulous reviews!
