Biography:

Used to singing radio jingles and writing music for other artists, Bobby John is a storytelling singer / songwriter from Montreal with an ear for pop and a rock background who has embraced showcasing songs with nothing more than an acoustic guitar and his voice along with an occasional loop pedal to literally sing with himself.

In the last few years, aside from co-producing and singing radio jingles for major local stations (Rythme FM, CKOI, Q92), Bobby John was frontman and songwriter for party rock band Play The Angel which lead him to sign with renowned Bloc Notes Music Publishing (Marie Mai, Bobby Bazini, Roch Voisine). The band opened for acts such as Bon Jovi, Sick Puppies and The Trews. After being invited by Akon for a showcase in Toronto, they were offered a deal by the pop icon but ultimately signed to local label, Mungo Park Records (Bobby Bazini), with whom they released a self titled EP receiving high scoring reviews and dedicated followers. Music videos for singles 'Ready or Not' and 'You and Me' spun regularly on both MuchLoud and Musique Plus followed by an acoustic tour across Quebec as supporting act for platinum selling artist Bobby Bazini where Bobby John got an itch for the acoustic style. Due to conflicting visions and creative differences, the band chose to part ways in August of 2013.

Since then, Bobby John has shifted his focus towards developing his solo artist and songwriting career. In the last few months, he has co-written with Rob Wells (Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Adam Lambert), Murray Daigle (Neverest), Mike Kiofos (Faber Drive), Jeff Diesel (Alyssa Reid, Fefe Dobson, Edwin), Eric Collard (Bobby Bazini), Diane Cadieux (Garou) and many more including multiple UK artists and producers on his last songwriting trip to England.

Most recently, Bobby John has landed multiple song cuts including ‘What R U Doing 2 Me’ for Michaelah Weekes (YTV’s The Next Star – Top 6), three cuts and six co-produced tracks on the debut album of Star Academy's Maxime Proulx, and notably, a chart topping single (Sortir de l’Ombre) on the album of pop artist Olivier Dion claiming the #1 spot for over 4 weeks on both major station Rythme FM and Rouge FM, peaking at #3 on the provincial Palmares charts. His recent cuts propelled a local songwriting buzz, generating multiple song requests from Star Academie and La Voix (The Voice) artists, and adding fuel on the already burning determination to pursue his own personal solo artist career.

With the full support of his publishing company, today, Bobby John is writing more than ever; both continuing his songwriting career and with a new priority of building his personal bank of songs specifically for his debut EP. He is currently in studio with producer Eric Collard working on pre-production and simultaneously putting together a live set of original material to begin testing live.

In the coming months, Bobby John will be hitting the stage to test new material and aims to complete the recording of his debut EP while building a team around the project.
