Biography:

Eddie was born and raised in Toronto and graduated from York University in 1974 where he studied music and English literature. Since the late 1970’s, he has had some two hundred songs recorded and performed by artists such as Pat Benatar, Joe Cocker, the Doobie Brothers, Rascal Flatts, Carly Simon, Martina McBride, Peter Frampton, Robert Palmer, Jeffrey Osborne, America, Meatloaf, Donna Summer, Rita Coolidge, Amy Sky, Lawrence Gowan, t. nile, April Wine and Mountain among others. He has received multiple Juno, BMI and SOCAN awards including the prestigious William Harold Moon award for lifetime achievement. His songs can be found in millions of games, dozens of movies and television shows, and currently one of his songs, “Hit Me With Your Best Shot”, is on Broadway in the Tony nominated production of “Rock of Ages”. As of 2010, Eddie’s career sales exceed sixty-five million units.
In addition, Eddie is also an award winning artist and has released four albums which have received international acclaim and top 20 singles in the United States and Canada. “Special Girl”, and “All Our Tomorrows” released in the early1980s have become Canadian classics. A retrospective of his work as an artist was released on the Leon Rojo label in June of 2009, and a collection of new songs will follow in 2010.
Eddie has served on the boards of PROCAN, SOCAN, CARAS, and in 2007 to 2008 was simultaneously the president of both the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Association of Canada, which he was instrumental in helping found and which celebrated it’s 25th anniversary in 2008.
Eddie currently continues to serve as the president of the Songwriters Association of Canada and as a director of the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. He represents SOCAN in Nashville, where he resides with his wife Joanne, daughter Emma and son Ira.
