Biography:

John Curtis Sampson
John Curtis Sampson was raised in Port Morien ,the youngest of 6 children. He began playing guitar at 13 years of age. A few years later as a young adult, it was clubs on the weekends and then off to late night kitchen parties to play and sing old country songs till dawn. But he wanted to write his own songs. John Curtis pursued this dream and entered the Maritime Broadcasting Company’s STARTRACK talent search winning top awards for best song and best vocal performance.
He eventually went on to write his first full length recording “You Got Me” and John Curtis would win two East Coast Music Awards for Country Artist of the Year, and Best New Artist, and also winning The Galaxie Rising Star Award. “When I’m Drinkin’” and “Don’t Cry, Good-bye” would secure top 100 national radio airplay. In 2001 he was nominated for ECMA Male Artist of the Year.
In 2002, his song “When I’m Drinkin’ was recorded by Australian Country Artist Adam Harvey on the Warner-Chappell label and secured impressive airplay in that country. John Curtis has performed on such stages as The Mike Bullard Show and as an opening act for country superstar Terri Clarke.
John Curtis Sampson is currently working in the studio in Toronto with producer Derek Atherton to record his second full length recording. When John Curtis Sampson is not playing music, he is a Community Outreach Worker and Counselor, providing guidance and shelter for the homeless and addicted in Cape Breton.
