I Got To Your Heart

I’ve seen a lot of people, gazed into many lives
But nothing compares to when I look in your eyes
I sense a familiar tone, I know there’s dark and light
I think we've shown each other a lot, and there's no need to fight?

I got to your heart
Whether you’re conscious or not
I spoke to your soul
And ever since we've been tryin to take control
And push away the same damn thing
That both of us know
I got to your heart, got to your heart

Some say that you can be distant, that’s how you’re known
But to me you’re someone that simply feels like home
From the moment we met, we dove in deep
No shallow water’s round here, swimmin’ in the sea
Can’t cast aside, the tides, we feel inside

It doesn’t have to hurt like that, doesn’t have to hurt like that

You got to my heart
Whether I’m conscious or not
You spoke to my soul
And ever since we've been tryin to take control
And push away the same damn thing
That both of us know
You got to my heart, got to my heart?

Since when is shining a light such a bad thing
Mirroring truth doesn't need to be full of broken glass
It doesn't have to hurt like that, it doesn’t have to hurt like that
So why are we so desperately trying to distract, from the fact that I

Got to your heart
Whether we’re conscious or not
I spoke to your soul
And ever since we've been tryin to take control
And push away the same damn thing
That both of us know
I got to your heart, got to your heart

You got to my heart, got to my heart
I got to your heart, it doesn't have to hurt like that

I'm Done

I’ll be the one you wish good mornin’
She’ll be the one you kiss goodnight
Dark in here, hard not to feel the gloom
But I know I’ll feel fine by the afternoon I was waking up to you, my alarm
But you were never really here in my arms

You sure had a hold on me
And it’s really still a mystery
How I’ve been so blind
A whole other you in my mind
Didn’t wanna see the light
It’s fun to fantasize but hearts and minds ain’t a prize to be won
So I guess that I’m done, done

You’ll be the one for me to lean on
I’ll confide and confess too much
Let you in on my dark inner world
But I know you’re too rough with my little girl
I was vulnerable with you, with my heart
But you were never really here in my arms

You sure had a hold on me
And it’s really still a mystery
How I’ve been so blind
A whole other you in my mind
Didn’t wanna see the light
It’s fun to fantasize but hearts and minds ain’t a prize to be won
So I guess that I’m done

I’m done x2

You sure had a hold on me
And it’s really still a mystery
How I’ve been so blind
A whole other you in my mind
Didn’t wanna see the light
It’s fun to fantasize but hearts and minds ain’t a prize to be won
So I guess that I’m done

I’m done x2

Poppy

Watchin’ everyone grievin’ over a stubborn man
We all came to love
He’d never tell you to your face
But behind your back he made sure everyone knew your place

In his heart
In his soul
Shone a light, of you and I
As bright as gold
x2

We all knew this day would come
How do we move on, he was still so young
Left a dog and wife alone at night, but three strong sons
To carry the weight of the world, 'cause it’s too much for one

In his heart
In his soul
Shone a light, of you and I
As bright as gold
x2

Everything is taken care of in God’s plan
In every step we’re takin' we will take his hand

In the old days he moved away from the tides
Spent his working days down, deep in the mines
But he never could find anything like what was..

In his heart
In his soul
Shone a light, of you and I
As bright as gold
x2

His memory will never grow old
Keep shining bright as gold
x2

Biography:

Justine Giles is an adult-pop singer-songwriter based in Toronto and originally from Sudbury, Ontario, with musical influences ranging from Sarah McLachlan, Sara Bareilles to Jewel.

Her most recent single “Poppy” was released late April 2018 in memory of her Poppy/ grandfather Ivan Giles. The song was mastered by Grammy-nominated engineer Joa~o Carvalho and produced by Bill Bell who has worked with the likes of Jason Mraz and Tom Cochrane. Giles and Bell have created two singles previous to “Poppy”, all of which have been met with the support of CBC Radio One, acquiring national radio play.

In the spring of 2017, Giles placed first in the regional round (Northern Ontario) and top-25 nationally in CBC’s Searchlight competition on the strength of her self-produced single, “Unspoken”.

Giles’ soulful voice was first introduced to the world in 2014 via her debut indie album Shine. “It’s a refreshing sound in a day where many songs sound similar.” according to Linda Heldman, Canadian Beats. “She leans towards vintage in many areas of her life and is not swayed by current trends. She writes from the heart and keeps true to herself by doing so.”

Giles is actively supported by Canada’s Music Incubator, an organization which provides ongoing mentorship to artist entrepreneurs.
