Songs by Kenny James

I'll fight you till the day I die
I will defeat, cause it's my soul to keep
And I know I've sinned a thousand times
You can try and preach
But I will not release

Cause it doesn't get any better than this
No it doesn't get any better
Than this

I might be a weak and fallen tree
Beautiful at birth, but now I'm diseased
Would you cut me down below the knees
I try to stand without my two feet

Cause it doesn't get any better than this
No it doesn't get any better
Than this

I'll fight you till the day I die
Your evil eye, locked on to the prize
And I know I've sinned a thousand times
My words the sword, your had is the crime

[Lyrics]

I'm so happy
I'm so happy all the time
Feeling great most of the time
I step out in to sun light

[Lyrics]

There are pictures of Rose in every room
Some of them are happy and some of them are blue
I'm picking off the blooms
Where the red one have dried
Some way or another, my roses have died

These pictures of Rose hold memories of you
In a garden with no keeper
There's nothing else to do
Now the paper only fades
But the memories remain
I've said all I can say now
All I know is pain

There are pictures of Rose in every room
Some of them with me and
Some of them with you
Now the garden is her tomb
When the roses are in bloom
I visit everyday now
It's all I want to do

Biography:

My writing influence comes from an early period of pop, rock and country music. With that said, I am influenced daily by contemporary artists. Originally from Toronto, my early years of writing and performing were in the form of various punky/garage rock and indie country/americana style bands. Today, I live in Sackville, New Brunswick. It's a peaceful place to live and write. All of my current music is written, recorded and performed by myself. Motivated by trying to find that perfect combination of notes, chords and lyrics, a brief glimpse of the soul, express an honesty, telling a story or speaking in metaphor.

My last official release was with a band called We Are Action. This music was heavily influenced by indie pop icons My Bloody Valentine, Spoon, Guided By Voices and Granddaddy.

Today, my solo music is heavily skewed towards country/folk and Americana or as I like to call it "Country-billy". Ryan Adams is a big influence. He portraits a perfect balance of stage persona and singer/songwriter talent. His resume of work is impressive covering various music styles from traditional country, blues, rock, and punk rock. I relate closely to this as my writing background has covered many similar styles.
