Off My Mind

Off My Mind - Words and Music by Neil Parent

How am I gonna get you off my mind
These moments seem to grab me all the time
Somewhere deep inside I know
That's the way its supposed to go
But how am I gonna get you off my mind

Having trouble getting out of bed
Don't want to eat when I can drink instead
I thought of the way things used to be
Now you're every face I see
and how am I gonna get you off my mind

Well I shook my angry fist up at the stars
I've mouthed obscenities at passing cars
My friends all laugh and say I'll be fine
I know its wrong I don't need no sign
But How am I gonna get you
How am I gonna get you off my mind

RIDE

Well I shook my angry fist up at the stars
I've even mouthed obscenities at passing cars
Oh my friends they laugh and say I'll be fine
I know its wrong I dont' need no sign
But how am I gonna get you..
How am I gonna get you

How am I gonna get you off my mind
Too many nights of whiskey weed and wine
My hearts locked down and you've got the keys
Chemical distractions got me on my knees
How am I gonna get you
How am I gonna get you
How am I gonna get you ....off my mind

Right Now

Right Now - words and music by Neil Parent

Mind a little hard
Heart a little soft yes
Mouth can go either way

That look that just means loving loving loving
Gotta have you twice a day

Oh what you do to me baby
Sets my heart aflame
Now guess who wants a rematch baby
In our loving game

Honey you look so good
I can't describe you without using both my hands
Oh turn me loose
I want to show you every way I can
I can

Don't lock the door behind you baby nono
There's no one round for days
Just let the magic fill you up o baby
Here where true love lays

For that moment just to ourselves
We've waited oh so long
So let's not rush things baby
In our loving song

The way the light hits your face
Makes your eyes light up so bright
Hard to believe that we're in this place
And we get to be all night
All night

There's nothing quite like right now
I need this for all time
Take on life together oh a mountain we both climb
Here we are oh right now
Just you in front of me
Lets take this chance and run tonight cause right now
We are free
We are free

Take A Seat

Take A Seat - Words and Music by Neil Parent

Trying to find the words but nothing comes out right
Everything so innocent and no one fights tonight
I want to make an effort in an obvious display
Make intentions known. Oh Lady won't you stay.

Hey, take a seat
Stay, long as you like
We, just might be
Here all night

I'm not here to play a game or string you along
Just hope you feel the same. This feeling can't be wrong.
Say something honest now and just give me that sign
I'm saying gently how I think you're fine

Hey, take a seat
Stay long as you like
We just might be
Here all night

No no no pressure but I'm into you
No unit of measure for a quality so true
So take my hand and see that this has no surprise
I want to spent the rest of always lost in your eyes.

Hey take a seat
Stay long as you like
We just might be
Here all night
Here all night
Here all night

repeat to end.

Time

Time - Words and Music by Neil Parent

If time is all we have then baby sure we'd have it all
Free as the birds that ride the winds of summer into fall
For something you can't pay to have
A thing no one can keep
Taken everytime we both fall
Peacefully asleep

I just want some more of it with you by my side
Days and nights go past so fast that I want us to hide
On time.

Most precious thing we share and yet
The thing we fear the most
Slips away so easily then haunts you like a ghost
Oh how slow the moments go
When it keeps us apart
How it flies when we're having fun
Together as one heart

I just want some more of it with you by my side
Days and nights go past so fast that I want us to hide
On Time
Hide on Time.

Turn it Up

Turn it up - Words and music by Neil Parent

Woke up with a song inside my head from long ago
Humming it out loud just made me smile
Paid a little mind to the lyric now I know
We should just sit down and talk awhile

We're gonna turn it up
And just forget who called today
Don't need people pushing us around
We're gonna turn it up
And make it there another way
One where no one's trying to keep us down

Loosen up the grip upon the reigns of moments passed
Got a chance to take it all in stride
No one really knows just how long these moments last
Now its time to just enjoy the ride

We're gonna turn it up
And just forget who called today
Don't need people pushing us around
We're gonna turn it up
And make it there another way
One where no one's trying to keep us down

Let it all pile up for a day or maybe two
Bills and dirty dishes stacking up you see
Open every window let that breezy day come through
Think of just how good its gonna be

Oh good things keep on coming
Better things oh every day
And I know in my head I'm in a race
So now I take my time and think it through
In every way
That puts my heart in a better place.

We're gonna turn it up
And just forget who called today
Don't need people pushing us around
We're gonna turn it up
And make it there another way
One where no one's trying to keep us down
We're gonna turn it up
And just forget who called today
Don't need people pushing us around
We're gonna turn it up
And make it there another way
One where no one's trying to keep us down
End

Biography:

Born in Kapuskasing Ontario, Neil showed early signs of musicianship as a child. His Parents sent him to Saint Michael's Choir School where he learned rudiments of music theory and harmony and to really hear and appreciate music. He continues to show a love for arranging and composing music and an undying passion for listening to music. Neil has enjoyed learning and performing all over the world with his closest friends in the a capella group 'FATE' and all over the greater Toronto area with the 'Uptown Swing Band' and dear friend and pianist Norman Amadio.

"To record with Norman (Amadio) has truly been a dream come true and a great gift to my family as my Grandfather (Lauri Salo) had played (drums) with him in Timmins. It is an even greater honor to call him a friend!"

Recently Neil joined the ranks of 'Airborne11' as team captain for the Global show "Canada Sings!" which aired Spring of 2011. The group won a 10,000 $ donation to their charity 'Ronald Macdonald House'.

His passion for music continues through learning, creating and performing for life!

“Switching styles is one thing - as Brother Neil does with ease and grace on "Bonfire Confessions". But in the end, it's the songs that count the most. And to these ears, the album is a feast of folk music. In the ideal world for which we long, young people with guitars will be singing these very songs around a camp fire in years to come.”
