HEAVEN'S LOST AND FOUND

Heaven’s Lost and Found
(© 2011, Roy Williams; Karen Gregory)

HL&F format: (A-A-B-A-B-C) (A’s, and C, in 4/4) (B’s in 6/8)

[A]
Albert punches numbers as he fumbles with the phone
The coin return is empty but he’s found the twilight zone
He wonders why he hears a voice inside the dial tone
Whisper something about Heaven’s Lost and Found

[A]
Albert’s mind has gone away it’s on extended leave
He sends out scrambled signals he’s all but lost receive
He pays life less attention than his nose gets from his sleeve
He doesn’t know he’s in Heaven’s Lost and Found

[B]
His eyes flicker up then they flicker back down
He shoots off an opening remark
I’m looking for Mars have you seen it around
I’d be there by now but it’s dark
And there’s no people left in its cities or towns
Says the man with the garbage bag ark
That he carries through Heaven’s Lost and Found

[A – var.]
Some will search for meaning some will search their soul
Some will search the scriptures some won’t search at all
Albert searches every day for what will see him through
He drinks to ease the pain that ruined the man that he once knew

[B - var.]
He wanders alone in a sea of blank faces
The man drifting round place to place is
A captain whose ship ran aground
In a wasteland called Heaven’s Lost and Found

[C]
He’s just a gypsy in Heaven’s Lost and Found
He’s always searching in Heaven’s Lost and Found
He hears voices in Heaven’s Lost and Found
He doesn’t know he’s in Heaven’s Lost and Found

HOLD ME IN LINE

Hold Me in Line
A tribute to Lowell George and Little Feat
(©2014, Roy Williams)

Rock and roll doctor brown puppy eyes
Cartoon charisma with a guitar and a slide
A fabulous infect-you-us feel the most-est
Getcha romance dancin from coast to coast-est
Can you hear him singin

I got to Hold Me in Line gotta Hold Me in Line
I’ve used up nearly nine lives
I got to Hold Me in Line gotta Hold Me in Line
I’ll be in the pink in no time

Roll ‘um easy roll right through the night
On cocaine and Commodore cocktails with a lime
Three sheets to the Santa Ana winds off L.A.
Where Neon tomatoes and Hollywood play
Can you hear him singin

I got to Hold Me in Line gotta Hold Me in Line
I’ve used up nearly nine lives
I got to Hold Me in Line gotta Hold Me in Line
I’ll be in the pink in no time

I’m willin to bet where his little feat led him
When he was outta sight he’d be outta his mind
So high on the music oh the music
And a pocket rocket’s sweet socket pie
Listen

I got to hold me in sway I love metaphor play
I’m so mixed up in a way

I got to Hold Me in Line gotta Hold Me in Line
One look at you a man wouldn’t think twice
I got to make you mine honey oh you’re lookin so fine
I’ll be in the pink in no time

You are my reason you are my rhyme
Can’t seem to hold
I said hold hold
Hold hold hold
Hold Me in Line

IT AIN'T TRUE

IT AIN'T TRUE
(© 2016, Roy Williams; Karen Gregory)

It Ain't True I said you were everything I could ask for in a woman
It Ain't True I promised the world I swore on my soul 'cause you know I wouldn't
That's not what happened oh no you know you put on quite a show
I knew I was right about you 'cause It Ain't True

It Ain't True even if you're a nine outta ten looks can be deceiving
It Ain't True you're upset I bet those crocodile tears fall without feeling
It didn't take long to see all you'd do is make trouble for me
I knew I was right about you 'cause It Ain't True

Saying whatever will cause the most pain a total fabrication
I'm amazed by your crazy messed up imagination
In less than a month you spent more than enough that ain't no exaggeration
You can cry you can moan just as long as you know
You can say what you want but that don't make it so

It Ain't True if they only knew how you really feel and how you hide it
It Ain't True stop saying I did what I didn't I know what I didn't I know what I did
I walked into a trap I'm the one who should be mad
I knew I was right about you 'cause It Ain't True

A - piano solo

Saying whatever will cause the most pain a total fabrication
I'm amazed by your crazy messed up imagination
In less than a month you spent more than enough that ain't no exaggeration
You can cry you can moan just as long as you know
You can say what you want but that don't make it so

It Ain't True I said you were everything I could ask for in a woman
It Ain't True I promised the world I swore on my soul 'cause you know I wouldn't
That's not what happened oh no you know you put on quite a show
I knew I was right about you 'cause It Ain't True

It didn't take long to see all you'd do is make trouble for me
I knew I was right about you 'cause It Ain't True

Too bad I was right about you too bad so sad
Too bad woh-oh-woh-oh baby 'cause It Ain't True
