Biography:

Sam Reid is a songwriter who has written and performed with one of Canada’s most successful rock bands, Glass Tiger.  Their first album, The Thin Red Line, was a smash success, songs that Reid and the band wrote together were described by music writers as “hook-filled melodies with shimmering harmonies.” The album went on to sell more than 2 million copies worldwide; it went Gold in the United States; yielded a #2 Billboard single-”Don’t Forget Me (When I’m Gone),” and “Someday,” which went to #5.
Five Juno awards and a Grammy nomination followed, and the album’s success allowed the band to tour Europe with Tina Turner, play in almost every major city in the United States, and perform from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island.  Two more albums, Diamond Sun and Simple Mission, consolidated Glass Tiger’s reputation – they allowed the band to grow and gave Reid the chance to strengthen his growing skills as a producer.
When the members of Glass Tiger decided to take an extended break from rock ‘n roll at the end of 1992, Sam’s creative home surroundings inspired a shift in musical focus and direction. He founded his production company Willow Music and recently opened a recording studio in Newmarket, Ontario called, SlipOne Digital. (www.slipone.com)

Sam is also a past director and resource leader for the Songwriters Association of Canada and the Canadian Songwriters Hall Of Fame, teaching the craft of songwriting through educational programs and workshops for songwriters across Canada, as well as co-writing and producing other artists.

Sam’s involvement with the Canadian Armed Forces started in 1996 with a trip to perform for the soldiers in Bosnia and Canadian Base Alert. Always a strong supporter for the Canadian Military, Sam has performed with the Glass Tiger band as part of the Team Canada visit to Kandahar, Afghanistan March 2009 and again in 2010.
2009 was a busy year for Sam as he was commissioned to write and perform the music theme for the Hawk One F86 Sabre’s airshow performances as part of the Centennial Of Flight Celebrations.
