Biography:

I'm originally from Kapuskasing, but have lived in Sudbury, Ontario, for twenty years. I moved here for a job in radio, and enjoyed a fourteen year career as a radio personality, music and program director, spanning multiple formats (rock, country, CHR). In short, I've helped put a fair bit of money in the pockets of some of the SACs more famous members, and may even have been one of the people who helped give some other members their big break on the radio.

Radio and me parted ways in 2002, and now I like to think of myself as a songwriter who happens to do communications and public relations during the day. Eventually, I'd really like to wake up, pick up a guitar, and have that be my job, a dream I'm sure many of us share.

I started writing lyrics in my first band in '94, but didn't really dig in to songwriting until after I learned to play guitar in '04. (There's a whole other story behind that.)

Last year, on my 40th birthday, my friends and family gave me studio time as a gift, so I could quit talking about recording and actually do it.

So I did.

Live Through This is my debut album, and was released in July.

End of "biography", but if you really want to know what I'm about, you can read on.

What was so beautiful about this project was the willingness of friends, not only to participate, but to pour their heart, soul and creativity into my songs.

It was all about friends and family right from the start. I love the vibe around this album, and I hope you will too. From laying out food for break during recording, hanging out with great musicians and friends, family coming by, my sister taking photos for the cover, to my friend Rox doing the graphic art and my good friends Mitch and Tracey at ORP.ca putting together a great website for me, this whole project has had a friendly feel.

They say if you want to catch water, you don't try to grab it - you just hold out your hand. Everything about this project has unfolded exactly as I would have hoped - better even. So I'll just let it be what it's going to be.

When I set out to make this, I wanted it to be the kind of record that comes along rarely - one that starts strong and finishes just as strongly. It will be up to you to decide whether I succeeded or not, but I love this album, I love the songs, and I love the people around it.

I hope you do too.

So there. Now you know a whole lot more about me than you would if I just told you where I came from and what I've done for a living in my life, right?

Thanks for reading. Much love,

Sean
