Constellation Ann Fearon 2009 (138)

G D C D
I’m a strange constellation of stars
G C Am D
Hovering over the place where you are
G D C D
There’s a soft one, a bright one, a twinkly one too
Am D G
They’re all different colors of blue

I try to be pretty, I try to be bright

So you can look up and feel happy at night

And I shine with the hope that you’ll notice me soon

But you only have eyes for the moon

C G D C G D
Chorus: I am beautiful too…I am winking at you
C G D Am D G
I shine this love from afar, just a handful of sparkling stars

Orion has sent me an arrow of his

And Virgo has given a maiden’s soft kiss

And the heroes of Gemini stand behind me

So I can be all I can be

From my place in the heavens I see you below

Scanning the sky as I come and I go

Are you searching for something to capture your heart?

Let me be the place you can start

Chorus and repeat verse 1

Don’t Forget Me copyright Ann Fearon 2011

Please don't forget me Hold me in your mind
Just keep a small flame burning My wandering spirit can find
Out here in the darkness I hunger for the light
If you don't forget me You can pull me through the night

Whisper my name, sleep in my bed
Conjure my voice inside your head
keep yourself warm in the sweater I made
Don't let my memory fade
Please don't forget me
Hold me in your mind
Just keep a small flame burning
My wandering spirit can find

I'm calling out loud, nobody hears
This cry from my heart falls on nobody's ears
I carry this weight, all of my pain
Won't someone please speak my name?
Please. Please.

Please don't forget me Hold me in your mind
Just keep a small flame burning My wandering spirit can find
Out here in the darkness I hunger for the light
If you don't forget me You can pull me through the night

Jessie copyright ann Fearon 2011 (132)

Jessie comes home to the shadows

The big house is empty and dim

There isn’t a sound except for the echoes of words that she might say to him

Jessie gets lonesome at twilight

After the noise of the day

Settles to hushes and murmurs and whispers

She hears the words he would say

Chorus

“Jessie, play Wild Mountain Thyme

You play it so sweet, you sing it so clear

Jessie. It’s your song and mine,

Bring me back home, sing me back here”

He used to call in the evening
When his work took him away
They’d talk for awhile, and then he would tell her,
“Hey, Jess, set the phone down and play
Then one cold night in December
She heard a strange voice on the phone
Saying these words, “I regret to inform you”
And she started living alone

Jessie picks up her old Martin
Touches the bright silver strings
Plays the first notes of the old Scottish folk song
He always asked her to sing
Then she can feel him beside her
As if they were never apart
And there, in that moment, his love surrounds her

And she hears his voice in her heart

Chorus

Tag: Will ye go, Lassie go
and we'll all go together
to pull wild mountain thyme
all around the purple heather
will ye go, Lassie, go

Biography:

Born in northern New Brunswick, Ann is steeped in the musical traditions of the east coast, but doesn't stop there. A singer all her life, she experimented with many genres over the years. Introduced to contemporary folk in the early 2000s, she finally found her niche. With her exceptionally versatile voice, Ann found the music that would make the most of her talents: one minute wringing the heartbreak out of a ballad, the next tripping lightly over the rises and falls of a traditional Celtic melody. Ann began writing seriously in 2006, tapping into all the musical wisdom gained over a lifetime of loving and living music. Her debut CD of original tunes, Roadside Flowers, showcases her ability to bring out the soul of a song, from the bluesy "Back Door" to the moody "Omen Crow". Ann is currently working on her sophomore project with producer David Findlay in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. Watch for it in the early summer of 2012.
